Because peace is important to me, I surround myself with people, situations, conversations that make it easy to experience. I admit. I love to feel good inside. And, my ears perk up when I hear new methods for doing that – especially when they’re simple!

On Friday, this wonderful teacher shared this simple message. He said that your mind by nature is peaceful. Yes. Your mind is the nature of peace. And, when you still your mind, that peace naturally arises.

He compared it to shaking a glass of water and seeing the water shake. Your mind is like the water. Once you stop shaking it, it becomes still. Peaceful.

This seems so obvious. Yet, who does this as a daily practice?

When do you stop shaking your mind?

I know I made the mistake for a long time that external things bring me peace. I looked in the wrong direction and really made things hard. Because this wasn’t working, I’ve trained for years to experience peace from the inside out. And, can you believe – it works a lot better that way.

 

How To Practice Feeling Good

The simple practice he shared touched my heart. And, it’s so simple it’s hard to believe.

Imagine you wake up in the morning. You make it your daily practice to feel this peace inside yourself. You don’t even need to get out of bed. Just take a few minutes to breathe in and out – simply focusing on your breath. Letting go of any distracting thoughts. Your mind becomes like that still water. It settles.

You give yourself permission to feel your peaceful heart.

It doesn’t matter if you feel this peace for 30 seconds or 5 minutes. It’ll carry into your day. It helps you gain control of your peace.

What better way do you have to start your day?
